In 2021, after nearly a decade of baking, I began to cook my lunch and dinner everyday. The first few months had a steep learning curve. On some days, I couldn’t tell the difference between coriander powder and cumin powder. On others, I added a little too much ghee.

But when the newness gave way, it felt empowering to be able to cook a healthy and tasty meal for myself. Cooking had a calming effect on me — to see something raw turn into a meal, tasting to check the seasoning was a refreshing experience after 8 hours of looking at a screen.

I realize that to many people, cooking seems like a daunting task. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Cooking doesn’t have to be hard. More often than not, healthy and simple cooking is a combination of fresh ingredients, a little preparation and asking yourself: what kind of meal will make me happy today?

This evolving collection of easy-to-make recipes is my attempt to get more people cooking, to empower more people to trust their instincts in the kitchen and to prove that cooking can be both simple and fulfilling.

Who am I and why am I doing this?

I’ve always believed that food is more than fuel. What we eat affects how we feel physically and emotionally. On a long and tough day, I crave a methi parantha because it brings me comfort. An occasion calls for something sweet, something chocolate. Food brings me joy and I want to share that with the world.
